Hawaiian natives protest Mauna Kea telescope | Doubtful News

On the ongoing and current illegal occupation of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, a crime in progress, as a response to the historic protest on 10/7/14 against the Thirty Meter Telescope. Quotes following are from “Hawaiian natives protest Mauna Kea telescope” by Sharon Hill, and the comments that follow her post on October 23, 2014… Today:

“Too many of these people are trying to fight old battles decided generations ago. I can see greater sharing of economic benefits with the Hawaiian locals (this has come up also in Chile), but that’s all. Ethnic woo is still woo.”

“I recall feeling similar when I heard that the local tribes did not want the Kennewick man studied, but simply buried. To study things is offensive and degrading to their traditions. The sacred is not to be studied. Thus we end up with a prickly situation of balancing human rights with the acquisition of knowledge. There is a tradeoff that must be made.”
