This photo shot Oct 6th shows a protester confronting heavy equipment in stream bed of Iao River. Public testimony at the Oct 11 meeting of the Maui County Council raised many questions about what kind of work had actually been performed after the September 13th storm. The heavy weather caused flooding and extensive damage; as a result emergency permits were issued for repairs which bypassed the normal oversight and review process. This morning on a local TV network, Mayor Alan Arakawa said, ‘No such thing’ as sacred rocks when speaking about the flood clean-up efforts in Iao Valley. We want to know what you think. Do you agree with the Mayor?
